Ugly Bug Box – unboxing!

Ugly Bug Box – unboxing!

So even though I have been an avid planner girl for many years, I have only recently been introduced to monthly subscription boxes.  And this week I purchased my first ever one, which arrived on Tuesday, and so I thought I would do a quick unboxing post with all my thoughts.

I went for the Ugly Bug box because I had seen so many pictures of stickers and planner spreads other people had done using her kit, I felt it was high time I tried it for myself.  I was lucky, because I managed to nab the last one too!  There’s a bit of a change going on in my diary, so I thought it would warrant me trying something else new.  Come back on Friday to find out more about that 😉

When the box arrived I instantly knew what it was!  The ugly bug logo on the front just made me smile!  I was told they got posted on Monday, so I was really shocked to see it arrive so quickly.  But that is promptness for you!

On opening my eyes were automatically drawn to the washi tape included!  I have to say I am a huge washi tape fan, and absolutely adore this one!  The autumnal colours are just perfect for October.  I have been looking for in the shops for something like this, but had been completely unable to find any.  So this definitely brought a smile to my face.  It is made by Bentola House and is 7m long so should hopefully last a good long while.

The pen is a beautiful gold colour with gems in one end which is lovely.  It is a black ball point biro, which writes really well.  I ca very fussy with my pens, but have to say this one will definitely be making it into my bag!

The paperclip is foxy and I love him!  I don’t use paperclips to mark pages, due to them falling off and marking my pages a lot of the time, but they do make lovely decoration.  Ugly Bug teamed up with Scarlet Moon Crafts and I have to say I will definitely be checking out her shop!  The link is below if you’re interested too…

The planner charm is equally as beautiful; with the spooky aspect of skull and haunted house, yet still put together in a very feminine manner.  This will be hooked up to my diary very soon! As I said before, come back next Friday to see this all unfold….

Last, but by no means least, are the Ugly Bug stickers, and I have to say they are divine!  Absolutely perfect for this season.  I love the countdown stickers that have been included, and I now find myself torn between the ones I already have of these ones…..  Decisions decisions….  Ha! All the functional stickers and boxes are just perfect, as well as the few strips of washi, which will definitely be used as the month goes on.

The only criticism I have with the box is that there is no sticker sheet for my monthly planner page.  For me, having these stickers would make this kit pretty unbeatable.  Having said that I am loving everything in the box, and it is brilliant value at £15 including postage!

Make sure you check out the shops when you get the chance….  Just to let you know The Ugly Bug store is closed until Monday 3rd October and will only be open on Monday’s and Tuesday’s. The November box will be available too, but you need to be quick!

Confessions of a plannerholic… Must see films

Confessions of a plannerholic… Must see films

Confession:  I am a MASSIVE Disney fanatic!   may be 31, but I am still a massive kid at heart.  Gavin, my fiancé has told me I have a bigger Disney DVD collection than any child he knows!  lol!  Having said that, it will not mean that every film in my list will be Disney.

There are just so many films that I love, and would list here.  But I thought the best way to complete this post would be to list my top 5.  They aren’t in any particular order, just films that I absolutely adore!

  1. Cruel Intentions – this film always takes me back to being a teenager, and loving the film so much I downloaded the script and edited it so that it matched the film exactly!  I also learnt all the lines for Catherine (one of the main heroines in the film) and even to this day people refuse to watch the film with me because I can’t help speak along with it! cruel-intentions
  2. Gone in 60 seconds – I love this film so much!  Nicholas Cage and Aneglina Jolie make an amazing couple in this film.  It’s the perfect movie to watch with a male too because it’s got the fast cars, and drama that he would love.  There is a brilliant story line to it, which is what draws me to it over and over againgone in 60 seconds.jpg
  3. Up! – This story tugs at my heart strings, and I have to say the cameo which shows the old mans life at the start of the film always makes me cry!  Overall it has a very touching storyline, and is a truly beautiful film for all agesp190662_p_v8_aq
  4. Cinderella – So no list of mine would be complete without my favourite Disney classic!  This story just touches my heart, and I suppose is every girls dream; finding their prince in the most random of places.  You just can’t beat itcinderella
  5. Home – Something a little bit more recent, but another touching story.  I love the storyline, and the message this film portrays.  It shows that jut because something is different doesn’t mean you should be afraid of it; you just need to learn about it.  The world is full of stereotypes and hatred due to minor things, such as the colour of someone’s skin or what they wear.  This film shows that ultimately this is not necessarily truehome

So that’s my list, but as I say there are definitely many many more I could recommend!  What are your top five?

Confessions of a plannerholic… Halloween week set up and decor

Confessions of a plannerholic… Halloween week set up and decor

So let me first start by apologising once again… my blogging hasn’t quite caught up as quickly as I had hoped. But I am working on this, and the reasons behind it all will be revealed over time 🙂

So my Halloween set up falls over two spreads because I Only plan 4 days at a time. However I was really looking forward to completing these spreads I have done both so you can see my set up until the end of the month

The first 4 days are below. I haven’t really deviated too much from my usual planning set up but have used Halloween kits to decorate. So in this picture, the gold and black washi tape used is from Miss Brimbles, and the decor is from the Ugly Bug Halloween kit.

The last 3 days of the month have been decorated using a few stickers from the Ugly Bug box as well as a sticker kit from Fab Planner Print on etsy. I absolutely adore her weekly sticker kits and have been getting a few more recently, which will be featured throughput my november spreads, so keep an eye out for those on instagram.

All my functional stickers come from a variety of sources so if you are keen to locate any of them or have any further questions s regarding my set up then please comment below.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog. I will link all the other plannerholics later on today so you can see theirs 🙂

Confessions of a plannerholic: Autumnal planner set up

Confessions of a plannerholic: Autumnal planner set up

Confession: I am not geared up for changing my planner set up to go with the seasons, so do not have an autumnal planner set up as such. However, as I have never told you about my current planner set up, I thought it would be a great time and excuse to share it with you now.

So I am currently living in a personal size purple saffiano (filofax) for my day to day stuff. I absolutely love it and am definitely feel at the moment I have an element of planner peace :). I also have a lovely planner charm which has my name on it, bought from Dotty Moo.

Because I like to be different and unique, as well as not wanting to spend too much of a fortune on planner stuff, I have designed and made everything inside myself. I only buy stickers and the odd paperclip to decorate :). So when I open my planner you will see the one big paperclip I have, which is purely astetic and I love it! This is a custom make from Cherry Blossom in the Market Square and it says “I love you more than buttery crumpets” which is a phrase my wonderful fiance, Gavin, says to me all the time. You can also see my dashboard with some pictures of us two which always makes me smile when I open up my planner.

The next pages are more dashboards. To the left are pictures of my daughter, Arya and step son, Kyle, whom I love dearly. And it’s nice to be able to show them off without necessarily having to get my phone out! Lol! To the right is a dashboard which relates to a project I am working on – project me! HA!  I have become part of a small community offering encouragement for each other to work towards personal goals in a 6 month period. My goals are here to remind me of what I am working towards. We start the 6 months today, so I hope I will succeed!

I have recently made myself my today page marker which I adore. I did originally have a paperclip but Arya kept pulling it out so it didn’t quite work…. So I browsed pintrest for an image I would love to see everyday and came across this beauty and then just used stickers to create the tab at the top and laminated it

So as you can see not exactly autumnal! And my monthly and daily spreads don’t get much better! Lol! Having said that I absolutely love Halloween so my October diary will definitely have a theme running through it, and I imagine I will have to get suitable washi tape to decorate with!

My monthly spread is decorated with a kit from Bits of Stationary, one of the few shops I have found which do kits in person planner size. I love the colour combination in this kit. It feels fun as well as festive.  Ive still got a few more bits to fill in yet, but will post on instagram when finished.

My current daily spread is 2 days per page, which means I only ever plan 4 days at a time. For me this works really well because I get to plan twice a week and I found I actually complete all the things I needed to.  Nothing gets forgotten and I don’t feel like I am spreading my time to thinly, and am much more productive now.

I get my stickers from a variety of shops, so just ask me if you would like to locate something you’ve seen here.

With stickers almost taking over my life, and my love of Halloween I do have my countdown stickers ready for next month too, from All Things Paper. I am actually very excited to get into next month and start using them and feeling festive!

So without waffling on longer, this is my current planner set up… not massively autumnal but still something I am proud of. I will definitely get more festive in October and will happily share some more pictures of my planning if you would like. I hope you have enjoyed reading. Please leave any feedback or questions in the comments.
